Group Counseling 

Participants in group therapy benefit from the mutual support and learning that occurs from interaction with others who have shared experiences. We offer a variety of therapeutic and educational groups on a regular basis and start new groups when needs arise.

Expressive Arts Therapy Group Ages 11-15

Expressive arts uses expressive artwork to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior, develop social skills, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem. A goal in art therapy is to improve or restore a client’s functioning and his or her sense of personal well-being.

Size Limit: 8 -10 Participants
Day/Time: Tuesday’s at 4:00 pm

Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy for Kids & Teens

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy combines cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness strategies in order to help individuals better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions in order to relieve anxiety, improve self-esteem and gain healthy social skills.

Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy Group Ages 11-15

Managing Life With Bipolar

This weekly group is for men and women with a diagnoses of Bipolar Disorder who are currently under the care of a psychiatrist and would benefit from further psycho-education and support from others.
Topics:

  • Impact of bipolar disorder
  • Coping with symptoms
  • Identifying Triggers
  • Managing relationships

Size Limit: 8 Participants
Day/Time: Mondays, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm (Starting September, 11 2017)

Parenting Support Group

Feel like you’re all alone in this and out of resources? Need some time for yourself to help untangle all of the negative interactions that continue to occur? Or just looking to hear what others have tried with success? Come join a group of parents like yourself who are also going through similar experiences. Topics will include:

  • Managing your emotional response
  • Understanding your child’s reality
  • Addressing Conflict
  • Helping your child navigate difficult relationships
  • Keeping your child safe
  • Addressing bullying
  • Building self-esteem
  • Reinforcing positive behavior
  • How to be the best parent you can be

Psychoeducational Groups

ASAP – Fairfax County Alcohol Safety Action Program

We are an approved treatment provider for outpatient substance abuse treatment services for clients (18yo+) referred by the Fairfax Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP).  This is a 16 week group program. English-speaking and Spanish-speaking ASAP groups are ongoing weekly.
